NASCAR Sprint Cup 2013 Hall Of Fame

The NASCAR is not just a racing competition, but also an institution in racing that you must definitely know about. In fact, it is with NASCAR that most of the people discover their passion for racing and motorsports. Last year, NASCAR inducted more legends into its Hall of Fame for the Sprint Cup. Do you know who all got a chance to be a part of this exclusive club? Five men made it to the fourth group of Hall of Fame inductees this time. The five men were Buck Baker, Leonard Wool,Rusty Wallace,Herb Thomas and Cotton Owens. We would be learning a little about these legends in this post.

•    Buck Baker- Buck Baker started his career in motorsports racingalmost at the same time as NASCAR was born. He took part in the first ever Strictly Stock car race in the year 1949 and also finished at the eleventh place at that time. During his entire career, he participated in 635 races spanning over 26 seasons and won 46 of these races as well. He was one of the most popular drivers in the 50s, when he even went on to win two championships in 1956 and 1957, the first of the racing drivers to have achieved the feat of two back to back racing titles. He passed away in 2002.

•    Herb Thomas-he is also one of the pioneers of NASCAR. He also participated in the first Stock car racing championship. He was also a popular driver in the 50s when he went on and won championships in the year 1951 and 1953. He raced for 10 years, participating in over 228 races with 48 career wins. •    Rusty Wallace- he raced in 706 events over 25 seasons and won 55 titles as well. He left behind Dale Earnhardt n 1989 to win the championship. He is an active television broadcaster.

•    Cotton Owens-he took to motorsports racing in the 1950s and raced for 15 seasons participating in 160 races and winning nine of them. He passed away in 2012.

•    Leonard Wood- the brother of Glen Wood, Leonard was the other part of the Wood Brothers racing team which still continues to race. He is known more for revolutionizing the pit stops than racing.
